The Mountain Adventure Park of the Palissades
" LE HAUT LIEU DE LA MONTAGNE AU QUÉBEC "
The Palissades is a natural jewel nestles in the mountains, unique in America. This magnificent park of international calibre is, without a doubt, the best kept secret in Québec.
The site is easy to access by route 170 at 12 km past Saint Siméon. With a network of over 15 km of hiking trails with spectacular viewpoints, the Palissades is a 4 km wide by 400 metres high of granite rock allowing the possibility to practise mountain adventure sports like climbing, the via ferrata, rappelling and the zip line. This site is renown with the nature and mountain lovers.
What's more! The adventure installations allows the visitors and participants to enjoy some food & beverages services, lodging in cabin, refuge or dormitory including the possibility to use our hot tub, sauna and Nordic spa. We are sure to have a package to suit your needs.
Brief Historical of the park:
Since its creation in 1972 by Jean Sylvain, as an ecoforest interpretation centre, the park as been known for its vocation in forest education. In 1986, François-Guy Thivierge and L'Ascensation climbing school took over the development of climbing and the maintenance of the cabin of the Laurentian's climbing club at the Palissades. During the 1990, many organised groups and climbers cam to discover and practise climbing. In 2001, M. Thivierge organised the Climbing Festival of Charlevoix. That event allows the board of directors of the Palissades to realise the dynamic and expertise of the organisation. On June 12th 2003, L'Ascensation climbing school became the new administrator of the Palissades. From then on, the vocation changed from the ÉcoForest centre to the Mountain adventure park of the Palissades.
